Four seasons in one day! Some intrepid members tripped down to the Kelmarsh Land Rover Show on Thursday, simply because the weather was so beautiful. On Friday, it was so hot the kids were practically forced to take a trip to Big Top Mania, the kids area. They had an absolute whale of a time and Ruby only came back two days later because it began to rain! Trapeze work, hula hooping, bubble disco, giant inflatables, unicycles, crazy bikes, tightrope workshops, juggling… the list goes on an on. Big thanks to everyone from Big Top Mania – the weather conditions were challenging and you kept kids and grown ups entertained for hours. Kudos for this gent rocking the penny farthing.
Part of the entertainment included Swamp Thing, an awesome looking monster truck. Ruby now doesn’t know if she wants to be an acrobat, or a monster truck driver!
Also in the arena, the traditional twist off challenge, winch challenge and mini-me’s. 70 years of Land Rover was celebrated with a stunning car from each year, some really unique pieces amongst genuine classics. Club stands were full of great looking vehicles, from discos to Freelanders, 101 Forward Controls and a few Wolf ambulances looking spectacular (and dry) in the pouring down rain!
The star of the show, however, had to be Mark’s new Petromax Atago Cooker – awesome German Engineering and did sterling work on 10 Full English Breakfasts (with black pudding and kippers).
Look out for a review of this later. Thanks to Barbara and Brendan at 4x4Overlander for being patient as we asked a million questions about the new Grill ‘n’ Fire BBQ , Steve from Raptor 4×4 (we all have some Raptor gear and Ryan added to his impressive collection of Raptor lights at the show – excellent customer service as always), Ben and River at River Canyon, the gents at Adrian Flux for supplying Chesca with lollipops (Club members get hefty discount on Insurance and Recovery from AF), Raptor Engineering for their excellent range of modified dashboards, YRM, Kelly and Jodie from Live, Tom McGuigan from Adventure Overland Show, Barry and Ben from Flat Dog and, as always our club members, without whom this weekend would have been extremely dull!
